"In this sequel to Wallbanger, the second book in the Cocktail series, fan favorites Caroline and Simon negotiate the rollercoaster of their new relationship while house-sitting in San Francisco.4 Spongebob Handbird Stars <3
Playing house was never so much fun—or so confusing. With her boss on her honeymoon, Caroline’s working crazy long hours to keep the interior design company running—especially since she’s also the lead designer for the renovation of a gorgeous old hotel on Sausalito. So with her hotshot photographer boyfriend gallivanting all over the world for his job, she and Simon are heavy-duty into “absence makes the heart grow fonder” mode. Neither has any complaints about the great reunion sex, though! Then Simon decides he’s tired of so much travelling, and he’s suddenly home more. A lot more. And wanting Caroline home more, too. Though their friends’ romantic lives provide plenty of welcome distraction, eventually Caroline and Simon have to sort their relationship out. Neither wants “out of sight, out of mind,” but can they create their own happy mid-ground cliché?
USA TODAY bestselling author Alice Clayton delivers another delicious, frothy cocktail of a book, shaking up her characters, stirring in laugh-out-loud humor, and serving sizzling romance straight up!"
Thump
"Oh, god."
Thump
"Oh, god."
Caroline and Simon are at it again.
When we find Caroline and Simon again, they have been together for a year. Simon is still traveling the world doing photography, and Caroline is still at the design firm. Though they both still have their separate apartments, they stay with each other sand savor every moment together, and and Caroline likes it that way. They love their adventurous lifestyle, traveling around the world, making love in exotic locations (and positions). I missed the playful and quirky banter between the two...and as their unconventional relationship continues, so does the banter. Also, Clive is back.. and still marking his territory on Simons Stanford sweatshirt, still determined hes the man of the house.
Caroline is excelling in her career at the design firm, and with her boss Jillian's upcoming nuptials, and honeymoon, Jillian lets Caroline know that she will be on an open-ended honeymoon with her new husband, Benjamin, and Caroline will be in charge. Caroline is excited with her promotion, and the fact that she is getting her very own intern! Jillian also asks Caroline to house sit for her when she is gone.
The sex between Caroline and Simon was just as hot and it made me want to stick Simon's face between my crotch and never let him up to breathe... Who needs air anyway?
Their good friends, Mimi and Ryan's relationship is going strong. Unfortunately, Sophia and Neil have broken up, and this is the one topic that Caroline and Simon tend to argue over. Thankfully, the quite funny banter and such close friendship
“Wait a minute, hold up. Stop everything. His name is Barry -" i started.
"-Derry?" Mimi finished.
We collapsed on the floor howling amid chopsticks and soy packets. "Silence, whores, silence. Besides, Reynolds, you dated a guy named James motherfucking Brown," Sophia snapped back.”
God. I couldn't quit laughing at the things coming out of their mouths.
"Sophias got a cucumber and she knows how to use it."
He snorted.
"Wait, that came out wrong."
Caroline quickly becomes overwhelmed, and starts to wonder if she took on too much, once Jillian is gone. To top it off, Simon, is taking time off work more often, and misses Caroline, as do her best friends Mimi, and Sophia. They are all worried that she is working too hard. Caroline misses Simon also. As these two try to navigate their relationship, and find themselves living together while house sitting, things begin to get real. We start to see Simon and Caroline's relationship become more grown up and serious, they take the huge step of moving in with each other.
We truly get to know more about Simon when he and Caroline make a trip to his hometown for a high school reunion. For the first time since graduation, Simon is returning to his hometown, he's forced to face some of the ghosts in his past. While Caroline is supportive and wants him to talk about it, they don't.. After a fantastic weekend, Simon is realizing what he wants in life.
“Hell, yes. I love you; that’s not going to change. I want this, I want you, and I think . . . Oh hell, here comes the Dawson’s Creek.”
He grimaced and I chuckled in spite of the moment.
His gaze grew wistful, and he looked so young. “I don’t want to put things off, even though we haven’t been together a really long time. I don’t want to wait—you never know what can . . . Look. I adore you, and I want a home. Again. With you.”Unfortunately, Rusty Nailed didn't live up to Wallbanger. Although it was hysterically comical, it just felt like a really drawn out epilogue, and it was as if I was waiting reading this then going to jump into Simon and Carolines story. Wallbanger had me laughing out loud, Rusty Nailed had me chuckling and smiling quite a bit.
We are introduced to a new character Viv, and we are going to learn about her in the next book. Again, another disappointment, I was really looking forward to reading about Neil and Sophia. WaHhHh.
