"When Cassidy Evans scores VIP tickets to a concert, she decides to use them for one carefree night before beginning a summer internship at her father’s Fortune 500 company. But one carefree night turns into a few too many martinis—with two unexpected twists: A steamy encounter with Gage Logan, sexy singer and guitarist, and a tempting job offer from Gage's boss to work at the concert venue she now knows quite intimately.
She definitely can't take the job. Her internship is an opportunity any business major would kill for. But the thought of working with her father, a man furious with grief over a family tragedy that struck six months ago, fills her with dread.
Then there's Gage. Working with him all summer could be hot. Cassidy can't stop flashing back to their night together. Molten kisses. His hands smoothing across the skin of her belly. The weight of his body above her own…
And suddenly the decision about how to spend her summer is much, much harder to make."

Have you ever been in-between books, perhaps a series, and didn't want to get too involved in an entirely new book just yet? Or even suffered a series book hangover? Well, the Rick and Release three part serial is just perfect for that little fix.

Still recovering from a family tragedy Cassidy, she and her best friend Teagan land VIP tickets to a concert, the night turns out differently then she expects. When Teagans attitude abruptly changes, she leaves Cassidy and hauls butt with the concert tickets. When Cassidy is approached by the owner of the bar, she has a few drinks, too many, and makes friends with the waitresses. After drinking a little too much, and making googly eyes with the opening act, Gage, Cassidy is determined to have fun, regardless of Teagan walking out on her.
"The singer breaks off form his song. I glance toward the stage, and he's poised to jump down to help the waitress, but I beat him to it. His eyes, warm, wide and brown, meet mine- pausing just long enough for that tug in my belly to slide a little lower- and he hesitantly sits back on his stool, resuming his performance."
When Gage approaches their table, words start spilling out her mouth, and before she knows it, shes making out up against a wall with Gage. Gage, ahHhHh, a sexy musician...totally book boyfriend material...

Cassidy is obviously still trying to recover from her brother, Jasons, death. Shes also very angry with her parents, and how they are treating his death, like he never existed. Cassidy is trying to make her father happy by taking a summer internship, but when another opportunity presents its-self, Cassidy starts to make her realize that she can't make everyone happy. When she confronts her dad, he is not pleased and he kicks her out, and she lands on Veras doorstep, where she is welcomed with open arms.

Cassidy is determiend to have a fun drama-free summer.

"This summer's Cassidy is breezy and happy and not attached to anything serious."

Gage and Cassidy instantly hit it off and soon they are going at it...its steamy, but not too steamy.  These too definitely make one hot couple. But Cassidy is guilty for the new friends, new job, and everything else going on, while her brother is in the grave and she can't take it anymore. She has to end whatever is going on with her and Gage, shes letting herself get to deep, emotions she does not want to release. Gage is  becoming more than she ever meant for it to be. And  she does not think it is fair to him because she can't me the type of girl she thinks he deserves.

CLIFFHANGER: Will Cassidy end whatever is going on between her and Gage? Or will she be able to get past the guilt and allow herself to be happy?

PS: I'm also curious to hear more from Teagan...maybe a book on her? Because something is seriously going on!

This was a cute and short read. I can't wait to see what happens when we meet with Gage and Cassidy again in Starstruck (Rock and Release, Act #2).

VIP is the first act of the three part sexy romance serial, Rock & Release. The final two acts, Starstruck and Show Stopper, will release on December 1 and December 15, respectively, at all major e-book retailers.
