"He’s thirty-eight. I’m twenty-three.
He speaks Spanish. I speak English.

He lives in Spain. I live in Canada.

He dresses in thousand-dollar suits. I’m covered in tattoos.

He’s married and has a five-year old daughter.

I’m single and can’t commit to anyone or anything.
Until now. Because when they say you can’t choose who you fall in love with, boy ain’t that the f*#king truth.
***
To a restless dreamer like Vera Miles, it sounded like the experience of a lifetime. Instead of spending her summer interning for her astronomy major, she would fly to Spain where she’d spend a few weeks teaching conversational English to businessmen and women, all while enjoying free room and board at an isolated resort. But while Vera expected to get a tan, meet new people and stuff herself with wine and paella, she never expected to fall in love.

Mateo Casalles is unlike anyone Vera has ever known, let alone anyone she’s usually attracted to. While Vera is a pierced and tatted free spirit with a love for music and freedom, Mateo is a successful businessman from Madrid, all sharp suits and cocky Latino charm. Yet, as the weeks go on, the two grow increasingly close and their relationship changes from purely platonic to something…more.

Something that makes Vera feel alive for the first time.
Something that can never, ever be.
Or so she thinks"

Vera Miles finds herself wanting more than the life she is leading. She wants to travel and explore the possibilities in life. When the opportunity presents itself to travel to Spain, Vera’s wish soon becomes a reality.

Teaching English to a group of business men and women in Spain is just the escape Vera is looking for. After all, who wouldn’t love soaking up the culture, enjoying some wine, and working on a tan. Sometimes those plans have a little ‘kink’ thrown into them. Vera never expected to fall in love. That is what was waiting for her in Spain.

Mateo Casalles never expected to meet someone like Vera. He came on this trip to expand his English. Something that would help him expand his business. The tattooed, pierced, shining star that is Vera was a bright spot to his existence. As the two spend more time together, Mateo finds that he cannot get Vera out of his mind……or his heart.

Do you believe in true love? For Vera and Mateo those simple words will transpire into an epic love story.
He slowly turned around. “What is love? In English.”I raised my brows. “Love, in English, is love?”“What is it in Spanish?”I was so enthralled by his hypnotic eyes, I could barely remember. “Amore?”He shook his head ever so slightly. “No. Love in Spanish is you.”

Desire, emotion, and finding true love are brought to new heights in Love, In English. Vera is a damaged soul just trying to find her way in the world. Never believing that she is worthy of love. Mateo shows her what a shining star she really is….burning bright for everyone to see.

While they are in Spain they discover the meaning of friendship and love. Their friendship makes Vera more confident in herself….growing as each day passes. Leaving the duo to discover love in an unexpected place. Something neither expected. Each page leading you on the path towards the epic love that each of us hopes to find in our lifetime.
Both characters have a lust for each other.. but what can you do when you know that the person you are in love with is married??

I don't intentionally read books with adultery. But I went into Love, In English with an open mind. While Karina’s writing touched my heart, I found it hard to feel deeply connected to the characters. Even though I liked Vera, I hadn’t been in sync with her. As for Mateo, I just felt like he was one of those guys who wanted to feel young again. I felt like he didn't seem to have much regard over his marital status, he didn't seem to think of the consequences to his actions. The poor characterization of Mateo's wife just left me feeling annoyed at Vera and Mateo, rather than sympathetic towards their relationship.  Whatever the reason I just didn't like him but it didn't take away my enjoyment to the story....
