The Game Changer (The Perfect Game #2) by J. Sterling
Released June 2013
Spoiler Free Review by Krystal
"Jack appeared at my door last night after six months of no communication wearing a Mets jersey and holding a dozen red roses. He told me he was sorry, that he loved me, and that he would earn my trust again. It took everything in me to not fall apart at the mere sight of him. I wanted to take him back into my life, but I needed to know that this time it would be forever…
In J. Sterling’s highly anticipated follow-up to her USA Today bestselling novel The Perfect Game, Jack and Cassie quickly realize that their new lifestyle can often be cruel and unforgiving. Their happiness is put to the test as the past is never truly far behind.
How do you stay together when the world's trying to tear you apart?"
After reading The Perfect Game, I think that The Game Changer was very much needed... it feels in the gaps of the previous books...and its going to make you completely fall in LOVE Jack again !!
The Perfect Game: Jack Carter. You screwed up majorly in The Perfect Game. But he is a changed man (Or is he?) He is ready to do what ever it takes to get things right between him and the love of his life. He has spent the last six months trying to get himself together, right all his wrongs. He isn’t a whole man without Cassie. He needs her, and only her.
“It’s either Cassie for me or no one.”
The Game Changer starts where The Perfect Game left off... Jack got himself traded to the NY Mets so he could be closer to Cassie and try to win her back. It has been six months since the two have talked or spent anytime together. Both are still very much in love with one another, but Jack made a huge mistake. A mistake that almost ruined everything. Cassie has forgiven him. But trying to forget and moving on from the past is another story.
“Love is life. If you miss out on love, you miss out on life.”
I loved the first bit of the book- we got to see Jack reflect on the past.... when Jack is telling his story, we are learning so much that was unsaid. He told Cassie all about what has been going on the last six months, explaining to her why it took so long for him to contact her. He wanted to do the right thing for once. (swooning)
“I know I don’t deserve you, but I need you.”
All Jack wants is to be back in Cassie’s life. He will never make the same mistakes again. He will do whatever it takes to do what she needs him to do. He will do whatever it takes to Prove It.
"You told me once that I was your game changer, but the thing is, you're mine too. It took me a while to realize that, but I finally did. You're my game changer. Because nothing else matters if you're not with me."
Being in the spotlight as ‘Jack Carter’s Girlfriend’ is much harder than Cassie would have ever expected. And she is struggling, between the ‘mean wives’, the media, the fans, and the evil ex-wife, it becomes too much for Cassie to take (and my lord, they are cruel). But Cassie doesn’t want to worry Jack. When it finally gets to be too much for Cassie, and it feels like everyone is out to get them- will their love survive this- or will it crumble?
Once again, the secondary characters were fabulous !! Mel and Dean played such an important role in Cass and Jacks lives... Jack leaned on Mel countless times, as did Dean...and Gran & Gramps. I just love how much Gramps loved the kitten. haha.

There is a little drama, but don’t worry readers- its nothing compared to the first book! I do have to say...I knew that gold-digger was trouble the minute Jack laid drunken eyes on her). Jack is amazing in this book...I fell for him all over again! I loved the back and forth between the past and present, and the fact that we got both Jack and Cassie’s POV.
But now that Jack and Cassie’s story is almost over, would it be too much to ask for a Dean and Melissas book? PLEASE!!!
