Stay (Keaton #2) by BA Wolfe

Spoiler Free Review by Krystal
"Fate took Cassandra down a path she never expected.
Then a small town in Colorado gave her exactly what she needed—until tragedy left her heartbroken and devastated. Alone with only her child and her memories, Cassie struggled to put her life back together, one day at a time, piece by piece. Finding love again was something she never thought possible. That was, until she ran into an unlikely stranger who flipped her entire world on its axis.
Aidan had a secret locked away in his heart; one that would surely send Cassie running the second she discovered it. He held onto her closely and kept his secret guarded, but one careless mistake could reveal all.
Their friendship was strong, their moments beautiful, and the love that brewed between them intense—something neither denied. The only problem? Cassie was slowly letting him into her life. Could she let herself get close to the one person she didn’t think she should?
Her mind tells her to run, but her heart tells her to stay."
After reading AWAY and being completely shattered, I instantly started Stay. I needed to know what happened next...I needed to pick my heart off the floor and find peace.
I was #TeamJason all the way. And when tragedy struck, I was broken. But when we meet Dan (or should I say, Aiden) at the very end, I was curious. So when I started back with Stay, I was determined to not like Dan..only because he was the brother that his family didn't speak about...but also because I had a feeling that he was about to replace MY Jase. But boy did I have it all wrong.
The first chapter is in Dans POV, and we flash back to Jases kidney transplant, and we are feeled in on SO much from that day, and why he wasn't there. And when he finally makes it to the hospital, his break down in Jases room, once again had me balling.
"I swore up and down since that day you were both that I'd take care of you. I was your Batman, and you were my Robin."
We also flashback to the day of Jases funeral..and realize that Dan is the man that pulled Cassie off of the casket. And in that moment...it was just the two of them, learning how to breathe again.
Dan/Aidan, is a high school teacher and a football coach in Denver. When Dan receives a letter from his brother a week after his funeral, he follows his brothers instructions and does not interfere with Cassie. For a year he has tried not to get involved with Cassie because of Cassie and Jases relationship, but when Cassie literally bumps into Dan at a local coffee shop, and at a bar, the two are instantly pulled towards each other...maybe its fate?
Cassie and Dan struggle to make sense of why they are being pushed towards each other when she clearly loved Jason. Inner battles are fought, and she struggles to know if this is the right thing to do (there are SOOOO many swoon worthy moments).
Dan is the MAN. The ULTIMATE book boyfriend. He fell in love with both Cassie and her son, making him as honorable as he was sexy. Jase was right to call him Batman because Aidan Bradley was a superhero.
Cassie does not feel like she should be living a happy life. Besides the inner battles, Cassie is still dealing with many demons on her own...One: Her parents. Two: Parker (the baby daddy), And she gradually begins to defeat them...with the help of Dan that is.
Each time Cassie is in Keaton, it seems like Dan is too, what is the universe trying to tell them? Jason wrote his brother letters all the time. Did Jason plan on this happening before he died that fateful day? Did Dan know all along that Cassie was for him? Some how when you are meant to be with that one person forces make it so. Does Cassie and Dan get their HEA? Can Dan handle being a daddy to baby Jase?
Do NOT read this book before reading Away, it is NOT meant to be a standalone.
"Call it fate, a loved one reaching out, or even fortitude, but something guided me along in this path."When Cassie and Dan end up at Trish and Barts house in Keaton for the 1 year anniversary of Jason's death, Cassie realizes that coffee shop Dan is Aidan, THE Dan that is Jason's older brother. Talk about an awkward meeting. Moose (Jases BEST friend) and Mel (Cassies BEST friend) have been there for Cassie to help with baby Jase and watching out for Cassie. Moose has been a good friend. Him and Mel fight like an old married couple when they are not helping with baby Jase. I'm ROOTING for Moose and Mel <3

"Where you'll be is where I'll stay."There is another major surgery in this book...and the person(s) undergoing surgery and faces EXTREME complications... the outcome is not what you expect either! Be prepared to, yet AGAIN, shed MORE tears.
"You don't have to be blood to be family."This is one journey I have loved from start to finish and while their story is over I'm excited to see more of this series as other characters find their forevers. I could sit here for hours going on and on about this EPIC love story that is Dan and Cassie...but i rather you experience it first hand. If there are any tissues left after reading Away, you're gonna need em again!
