"If someone had told me a year ago that I was about to fall in love, go on an epic road trip, ride a Triceratops, sing on a bar, and lose my virginity, I would have assumed they were on drugs.

Well, that is, until I met Beckham.

Beck was mostly to blame for my recklessness. Gorgeous, clever, undeniably charming Beck barreled into my life as if it were his mission to make sure I never took living for granted. He showed me that there were no boundaries, rules were for the spineless, and a kiss was supposed to happen when I least expected.

Beck was the plot twist that took me by surprise. Two months before I met him, death was knocking at my door. I'd all but given up my last scrap of hope when suddenly, I was given a second chance at life. This time around, I wasn't going to let it slip through my fingers.

We set out on a road trip with nothing to lose and no guarantees of tomorrow.

Our road trip was about young, reckless love.

The kind of love that burns bright.

The kind of love that no road-map could bring me back from."

Taking chances, falling in love for the first time, and learning to live!

Abby is so sweet but yet so naïve. She is funny and very random. I’m not really sure she was built with a “filter.” Pretty much what she thinks comes straight out of her mouth, but that’s what makes you fall in love with her. But seriously, the girl has been given a new lease on life. After careful and sheltered life, 19 years old Abby got her heart transplant. Now the times comes to finally "live". And a secret road trip  seems like the best way to fully enjoy her second chance at life.... With the push of her best friend, she sets off planning her journey. What she doesn’t plan on is a having a companion on her road trip, but after a twist of fate, she thinks why not?

After watching from across the street, Beck decides to take his chances and goes after the girl. Beck is not one of the boys running from a past, but more so of a career that he doesn’t want. Beck is one of the smart, funny, sexy, boys next door, that brings the best out of people and he is just what Abby is in need of. Beck is more of a live for the moment kind of guy.

"My eyes swept down to his soft black t-shirt that read: “don’t do school, eat your drugs, stay in vegetables.” Then I glanced back up at his shadowed eyes. I could barely make out the color with his hat covering them, but everything else was there: the cheek bones, the straight nose, the sensual lips, the long lashes, and the strong eyebrows. If I wasn’t standing in a funeral home, and if he wasn’t borderline harassing me, I might have wondered if he traded his soul to look the way he did."
He and Abby set off for their road trip and you can actually feel the way these two gradually fall in love with each other. Abby carries this urn with her dumping ashes out on their stops. Sort of a symbol of her past and finally putting it to rest urn. But tragedy calls them back and Abby deals with the loss of a friend and deals with her overprotective parents finding out she took off without them knowing. After all is sorted there, Beck and she decide they need to finish the road trip. You will love their adventure but something else sets them back.

Beck pushes Abby is a good way. She needed to learn to live and he helped her grow. Through the book, you will see a very immature Abby turn into a very mature woman. There will be times when you feel like you need to hit something because of something she does, but keep in mind…she’s learning to grow.
“Had his mouth not been stealing every ounce of will power from my body, I would have grinned at his cheesy confidence. It was like he wanted me to love him. He was daring me to let myself fall, and for a brief moment, I decided that I would accept his challenge.”
The witty banter between these two will keep you in stitches. It seems they both feed off each other. There were plenty of laugh out loud moments to cherish. There was also so pretty down right hard moments to get through. Luckily, I just stocked up on tissues. But as we all know, everything comes in a full circle.
"Love will make you reckless. It can drag out parts of you that common sense and fear usually keep hidden away. Because love is selfless and selfish."
The secondary characters really add a lot to the story. Caroline pushes her best friend to embark on her road trip. She is the one friend everyone should have. And her parents; even though they are overprotective, give you a pretty good understanding of protecting your child.
Her hand wrapped around my fingers, tightening my hold on the tarnished locket. “I love you with this heart.”
There is always that moment when you realize that finding true happiness comes with the dark, sad times. This book gives the reader just that. So, hang on during this roller coaster of a journey till the final destination is the Happy Ever After that we all look for.
