Inevitable Love (Navy Love Series #1) by J.C. Santo Review

Synopsis
Sometimes the things we fight hardest against are inevitable in the end.

Hunter Stevenson wasn't interested in wasting nights with bed warmers, he had a daughter to take care of and a life to build. Leaving behind the mother of his four year old child and her incessant partying, Hunter moves closer to his family to help provide Sawyer some stability.

Tessa Daniels didn’t share the ‘typical American dream’ like most girls. A husband, 2.5 kids and a white picket fence weren’t the things she wanted for herself. She had a plan laid out, which included a career in the Navy and being surrounded by her best friends. She was perfectly content with her carefree, fun lifestyle and her casual relationships, but all of that changed when she met him.

What neither of them expected was a nosy brother and best friend with some serious matchmaking skills. The two have an instantaneous pull towards one another, they can’t fight the spark even though they both do. Until one drunken night, Tessa throws herself at Hunter, only to face an agonizing rejection. However, Hunter’s gentlemanly facade doesn’t last with the sassy sailor girl, his alpha attitude quickly emerges in the midst of their sexual tensions.

Hunter refuses to be another one of Tessa’s casual hook-ups, and won’t allow her to run away from the idea of ‘them’. No matter how many obstacles stand in their way of a happily ever after. Now he must convince Tessa that their inevitable love is worth fighting for.

Can their newfound love survive the stress of an impending deployment and Hunter's past pushing it's way back into his life?

**This book can be read as a stand alone.

Review
Every once in a while you stumble across a book that makes you stop and think. Society has us conditioned to believe that men are strong and women are often victims that need rescuing. Authors have a tendency to portray women similarly at times. However, I love when you find a strong kick ass lead character that can not only support herself but actually rescues the male character in a way.
Tessa works for the Navy in Virginia. She has made a life for herself away from her family and often doesn’t see them. In fact the only thing she wanted was to get away. “If I stayed back home, I would have ended up a loser. The Navy was my ticket out of that small town.” She has a select handful of friends who she has let into her inner circle. This group of friends is her “nucleus”. Without them she wouldn’t function especially her best friend Marshall. Marshall is the peanut butter to her jelly and while they may drive each other crazy at times he is everything that she needs in life or so she thinks. “How lucky I am to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard.”
When life gets a little crazy for Hunter, Marshalls twin brother, and his spunky daughter Sawyer they move to Virginia to live with him.
Hunter and Tessa have instant chemistry with sparks flying like fireworks. Tessa has always avoided relationships because of her Navy deployments so now she needs to decide if this is something she wants out of life. Will she need to sacrifice her career for everything that she that she used to laugh at? Can she become an “insta-mom” to a sweet little girl?

J.C. Does a great job at taking you on Hunter and Tessa's journey. I loved everything about this book. The relationships, the friendships, and the humor! I had so many different emotions while reading this book and felt like I was right there most of the time. This is a book that you will want to read.
