Pepped Up Forever (Pepper Jones #5) by Ali Dean

Pepped Up Forever (Pepper Jones #5) by Ali Dean
Released September 29, 2015
Spoiler Free by Meagan

This is the fifth and final book in the Pepper Jones series, and it’s one you don’t want to miss.

Pepper Jones is ready to start breaking some records. She’ll be a junior in college, and if she wants to run professionally when she graduates, it’s time to step things up a notch. This time around, she knows it won’t be accomplished by ramping up her training. While Pepper’s hoping for a race day breakthrough, she wonders if there’s a mental barrier holding her back, and if so, how is she supposed to confront it?

Meanwhile, Jace Wilder wants Pepper back any way he can have her, but he’s reluctant to bulldoze his way into her life having already crushed her once (okay, probably a few more times than that) before. More scenes from Jace’s point of view in the book shed a new perspective into the character Pepper fans love to hate, and hate to love, delving into those layers he’s only given glimpses of in the past.

The Brockton crew is growing up. Zoe and Wes. Jenny and Rollie. Lexi and Brax. Bunny and Wallace. Pepper and ??? It’s time to find out what Pepper’s happily ever after will be

With the Pepper Jones series being one of my all time favorites I was really sad to know this would be the final book, especially after the way Pep Talks ended and if you haven't read that book I definitely suggest you do or you will be thoroughly confused when you try to read this book. Going back into this series was definitely difficult, I did not want this series to end and for that reason alone I put off reading this one for over a month. When I finally picked it up to read it I was instantly hooked and didn't want to put my kindle down for anything, but at the same time I wanted to draw it out for as long as possible.

When you first dive back into the world of Pepper and Jace, things are very different from the first book. For starters Jace broke Peppers heart in Pep Talks and now she's moving on from that heart break. The only thing is, Jace wants her back he just doesn't know how to win back her trust and show her that he wont crush her again.

Like any other strong female character, and real life females, Pepper wants Jace to know she doesn't need him, no matter how hard that is. When they start to become friends again and the attraction is back full force, it's hard to deny everything that both Pepper and Jace feel. One of my favorite things about this book is that we see more inside of Jace's head than we did in Pep Talks. If you have already read this amazing book then you know what is going on inside Jace's mind.

When evidence of Jace's unfaithfulness shows up, Pepper completely pushes him back out of her life. But lucky for us Jace does not know how to give up. At least this time he doesn't.

What will happen to Pepper and Jace? What happens to Peppers running career? What about the rest of the gang? Bunny and Wallace are hiliarious as ever, will Wallace pop the question? Would Bunny say yes? What about Wes? Does he love Zoe? How are Jenny and Rollie getting along with that long distance relationship?

These are all questions that are answered while reading the book. Peppers friends have her back with everything else, do they have her back when it comes to her crumbled relationship with Jace?

I've said it before in previous reviews, Ali Dean knows how to keep me on my toes. I can't wait to see what she comes up with next now that this series is closed out. Although I definitely wouldn't mind a little novella of Pepper and the gang in the future. Hint hint. ;)

"Twenty-year-old Camryn Bennett had always been one to think out-of-the-box, who knew she wanted something more in life than following the same repetitive patterns and growing old with the same repetitive life story. And she thought that her life was going in the right direction until everything fell apart.

Determined not to dwell on the negative and push forward, Camryn is set to move in with her best friend and plans to start a new job. But after an unexpected night at the hottest club in downtown North Carolina, she makes the ultimate decision to leave the only life she’s ever known, far behind.

With a purse, a cell phone and a small bag with a few necessities, Camryn, with absolutely no direction or purpose boards a Greyhound bus alone and sets out to find herself. What she finds is a guy named Andrew Parrish, someone not so very different from her and who harbors his own dark secrets. But Camryn swore never to let down her walls again. And she vowed never to fall in love.

But with Andrew, Camryn finds herself doing a lot of things she never thought she’d do. He shows her what it’s really like to live out-of-the-box and to give in to her deepest, darkest desires. On their sporadic road-trip he becomes the center of her exciting and daring new life, pulling love and lust and emotion out of her in ways she never imagined possible. But will Andrew’s dark secret push them inseparably together, or tear them completely apart?"

Due to sexual content and language, this book is recommended for 17+ – Adult Contemporary Women’s – New Adult Fiction

This is the story of Camryn Bennett and Andrew Parrish, two people who have come to a cross roads in their life where they realize they have to find something else, some other way to cope with the struggles they are facing or they will slowly fade away from the world entirely. They both have their own emotional issues that they are facing all alone; so they both decide the path they have to choose needs to be something different and unconventional. As luck would have it, they both find themselves coincidentally on the same bus, traveling to different places, and hoping to find some type of internal peace.

Synopsis:

Claire is a twenty-something, single mom that grudgingly helps her best friend sell sex toys while she attempts to make enough money to start her own business to give her foul-mouthed, but extremely loveable (when he's asleep) toddler a better life.

When Carter, the one-night-stand from her past that changed her life forever, shows up in her hometown bar without any recollection of her besides her unique chocolate scent, Claire will make it a point that he remembers her this time.

With Carter's undisguised shock at suddenly finding out he has a four-year-old son and Claire's panic that her stretch marks and slim to none bedroom experience will send the man of her dreams heading for the hills, the pair will do whatever they can to get their happily ever after.

Warning: contains explicit sex, profanity and enough sarcasm to choke a horse.

Review

Tara Sivec, you crazy broad.

This book had me rolling in laughter and tears....and that's putting it mildly! There was plenty of sugary sweet, a shit load of sass, and a fluck ton of one liners that'll have you giggling like a prepubescent tweenager.

The synopsis pretty much lays it all out there for you. Claire meets Carter at a party, they have a wee bit too much fun, things happen because of said fun, and then....poof, neither really remembers the other. Not enough to locate them again. And Claire REALLY needs to locate this stud muffin, STAT!Years later, in walks Carter into her workplace and the rest is printed for your reading pleasure.
Actual, real LIFE happens in this book, and I freakin floved it!!!
Seduction and Snacks was such a  unique experience and different from anything I'd ever read. With chapter titles such as "I Got a Big Weiner", "Claire's Coochie Kills", "Quivering Loins", and "Have You Seen Mike Hunt", how can it not be hilariously great?
Pacing and story flow is spot on with hilarious secondary characters. Claire's father was one of my favorites! I was late to the Tara Sivec game but I cannot wait to get my hands on the rest of this series! Find her on facebook and twitter, you won't regret it!

Leveled: A Saints of Denver Novella by Jay Crownover

Leveled: A Saints of Denver Novella by Jay Crownover

Release Date: November 2, 2015

Spoiler Free Review By Rachel

Synopsis:

We all need a hero...let the Saints of Denver begin

Orlando Frederick knows what it is to be leveled by pain. Instead of focusing on his own, he’s made it his mission to help others: sports stars, wounded war vets, survivors of all kinds. But when Dom, a rugged, damaged, sinfully attractive cop, makes his way into Lando’s physical therapy practice, he might be the biggest challenge yet. Lando loved one stubborn man before and barely survived the fallout. He’s not sure he can do it again.

Dominic Voss is a protector. The police badge he wears is not only his job, it’s his identity, so when he’s sidelined because of an injury, the only thing he cares about is getting back on the force. He expects Lando to mend his body, he just doesn’t realize the trainer will also have him working toward a hell of a lot more. As attraction simmers and flares, Dom sees that Lando needs repair of his own...if only the man will let him close enough to mend what's broken.

My Review

Yowza!! This did NOT feel like a novella at all; it read like a full length novel. I have to admit this was my first strictly M/M book and I couldn't have been more excited that Jay decided to surprise her readers with this story. If you've read the Marked Men Series, you will recognize these names. If not, I'll give you a little back story to help you along. I believe this novella could actually be read as a stand alone if needed, as it begins a whole new series called, Saints of Denver.

Orlando "Lando" Frederick is introduced in Rule, the first book of the Marked Men Series. He is the boyfriend of Remy Archer, Rule's twin brother. Where Rule is tattooed and defiant, Remy is clean cut and seemingly straight laced. Remy kept his private life private, telling no one, except his best friend Shaw, (and Lando of course), that he is gay. It's a secret that he unfortunately takes to his grave.
Dominic "Dom" Voss is introduced to us later in the series, but more so in the final Marked Men book, Asa. Dom is the police partner of Royal Hastings, who is Saint's best friend and the love interest to Asa. Dom is strong, sexy, and thinks he knows exactly what he wants out of life; he doesn't live his life hiding his identity.

With a dedication like this, how can it NOT be good?!

When we start off in Leveled, Dom has arrived at Lando's physical therapy practice after being hurt in the line of duty. He has high hopes of quickly getting his damaged body back into shape and getting his badge back. Their attraction to one another is immediate, and equally shocking to both of them. The fireworks start there and they don't stop until the very last page!
Dom has never really been in a serious relationship, whereas Lando never thought he'd feel anything close to the love he holds onto for Remy. We get to see numerous familiar faces throughout the book, along with getting a look at both Dom and Lando's family's.
Lando has serious reservations in regards to getting into a relationship with Dom, whose job keeps him in a constant state of danger. He's still raw from losing Remy and cannot imagine living through that kind of heartbreak again. It's almost a deal breaker for them, but they both soon realize that their love is real, and it is fully worth any risk they may face.
Jay brings these characters to life in Leveled. I hurt for them when they hurt; I celebrated with them when they overcame hurdles; and holy hot sexy scenes, Batman! I utterly fell in love with them as a couple. Jay's writing is so spot on and powerful, there were a couple of parts that I read over and over because they were so damn well written I just couldn't shake them.

"Fear and love were two powerhouse combatants and it was questionable which one was going to win"

OMG, right?! I highlighted 35 times in this book. So much goodness! This highly addicting book will make you "kiss drunk and sex stupid"! You won't know what hit you, and you'll want more, more, more!

I cannot say enough about this book. If you're unsure about reading it because its #2boyskissing, I'll kindly point you back to the dedication. Read it. Read it again. Then take a deep breath and dive right into Leveled and don't look back.

This story is real. It's beautiful. It's touching. It's heartfelt. It's LOVE.

"There’s no emotion greater than fear.
No ache greater than grief.
No sound greater than silence.

I’m grateful he showed up on my doorstep,
pissed off and angry at the world.
If he hadn’t, I wouldn’t be here.
And I don’t just mean here on this journey with him.
I mean here, in this world.

I wonder what events in all our lives—hers included—are The Turning Points? The points where we all determine that the fear of our pasts and the uncertainty of our futures are greater than our need for happiness.
Here.
Now.
While time and everything around us stands unmoving… who’s to say we can’t have it all?
***
We wanted it all.
We wanted it with each other.
We thrived on the chaos we created.
And ignored the Mayhem that ensued.
Because falling in love was easy.
But sometimes, love isn’t enough."

Sweet Nothing By Jamie McGuire & Teresa Mummert

Release Date: November 1, 2015

Spoiler Free Review by Rachel

 Synopsis

It is enough to break any man: watching what could have been my future slip away before it was ever in my grasp. The possibility of losing someone I loved before she was even mine is something I never would have imagined—certainly nothing I'd ever wish on anyone. I went to her every day and waited. Waited for the impossible, for a sign, for her to look at me ... hoping sinners are granted miracles, too.

Just one glimpse of him was all it took. In the next lane, at a stop light, was the man I would fall in love with and marry. People talk about love that takes time—the kind you fall in to. We were more like a crash and burn. When our lives intertwined, I knew I would never be the same. He was the man I would cherish the rest of my life, who would father my children. In an instant our life together began, and in an instant it would end. The late nights; the excuses; the lies. And in the blink of an eye, it was like we never were.

For the first time, experience a heartfelt, jaw-dropping novel by New York Times bestsellers Jamie McGuire and Teresa Mummert.

When you think you know what's happening, you're only half way there.
