Annapolis Crowne Plaza Hotel - Review

Stay - February 17, 2017 through February 19, 2017
Location: 173 Jennifer Rd, Annapolis, MD 21401

This past weekend I was able to attend Rebels Hit the Road in Annapolis, Maryland. The book signing was hosted by Sidonia Rose, Amy McGlone, and Tonya Nagle. The event took place at the Crowne Plaza in Annapolis.

I have lived in Maryland most of my life. I have driven past this hotel more times than I can possibly count and even parked in the same parking lot previously yet I have never been inside. From the outside it looks just "average." Honestly, I wasn't expecting much from the hotel when I showed up but I was pleasantly surprised.

The hotel was clean, modern and overall the staff were friendly. The rooms were spacious enough for four people to share without ever feeling as though we were on top of one of another and the in room amenities were ample.

My only observations were that the hotel was not adequately staffed for the amount of people that were staying in the hotel for the event. The lounge was backed up on Friday night and the breakfast buffet service was slow the next morning. The employees tried really hard to keep up but clearly they just didn't have enough people to keep up with the flow.

Even living local to the hotel I could see me staying here again for future events or even a night away to just enjoy an event in that area. Bedknobs and Book Babes would recommend this hotel!

Things My Husband Says (Out of the Blue, Book 1) by Barbara Blue

Things My Husband Says

By Barbara Blue

Short and Sweet Review by Rachel

DO NOT READ THIS BOOK IF THE FOLLOWING SENTENCE OFFENDS YOU,

“I'm full of "baby gravy". You need to do something about that.”

THINGS MY HUSBAND SAYS is an unfiltered collection of conversations between myself and my husband of over twenty-five years. If you have lost your ability to laugh at inappropriate bedroom banter between two married and consenting adults, then IMMEDIATELY STOP READING! This book is not for you. We are from completely different tribes and you will hate everything about this book. I prefer to avoid receiving bad reviews when possible...So help me, help you, help me by you not reading this book full of ridiculous references about fornication.

Emma Chase, NY Times Bestselling Author says,"THINGS MY HUSBAND SAYS is a collection of laugh out loud, holds nothing back, unabashedly honest, gigglingly relatable episodes that are bursting with real-life and real love on every single page. A great read for old married people, newlyweds, singles, and everyone in between."

Joe “Not in My Town” Martin says, “He’s a true inspiration to mankind and they should erect statues of him for us to salute.”

Bryan, The Husband said, “You better not be using my real name in this.”

My Thoughts

Barbara.....Y'all nasty. BAHAHHAA!!!! But seriously....
This book is exactly what it says it'll be!
Things My Husband Says is a collection of short stories and conversations that happen between Blue and her husband. It's a funny, and sometimes ewww-inducing look into their "geriatric love nest." If you follow her on social media, you know exactly what you're getting into. If you don't follow her, you're missing out! Unless you're a prude, or if you don't enjoy completely inappropriate sexual innuendos. But....let's be honest, those are the spice of life.

Here's a peek at one of my favorite "episodes", but you really have to see each one with the emoji's that Blue adds, they totally complete each episode!

Episode #36
Him: I've got a hard on. At our age, we should never let a hard on go to waste.

SKIN : A 44 Chapters Novel by BB Easton

SKIN : A 44 Chapters Novel
By BB Easton
Review by Rachel

“Knight was a skinhead. Correction, Knight was THE skinhead.”
-BB Easton, 44 Chapters About 4 Men

Based on (mostly) true events, SKIN is the story of Knight and BB. It is the story of how a good girl, from a good home, with good intentions and even better grades, managed to get herself mixed up in every bad thing imaginable. It is about love and loss and learning that in this life, looks can be deceiving.

*To fully enjoy this book it is recommended that readers first experience 44 CHAPTERS ABOUT 4 MEN; however, SKIN can be read as a stand-alone.

**SKIN is not intended for everyone. It contains themes that might upset or offend sensitive audiences. Please consult the introduction for a list of triggers.

***Now I'm just adding asterisks to be an asshole.

My Thoughts

....are a complete cluster fuck in the most delicious way possible. When I say this is NOTHING like you've ever read, I mean it's absolutely NOTHING like you've ever read before, or ever will read again. Nothing will ever touch this series for me. I will own it in every format available and, god willing, keep my shit together when I finally meet BB Easton.

This novel stems from BB Easton’s first book called 44 Chapters About 4 Men (see review here).
Skin is book one of the series that will cover the 4 men from BB’s life that were mentioned in 44 Chapters. My recommendation is to read that one first, but you technically don’t “have to”. Although you’d be crazy nuts if you didn’t read every damn word this bat-shit passionate, punk ass bish has written. #GIRLCRUSH

Skin gave me the best (worst?) book hangover I’ve ever encountered. I was useless. Completely. Utterly. Useless. All I could think about was Knight and BB for weeks! They consumed my entire existence. I couldn’t function. My family got death glares when asking what was for dinner. I seriously felt like I was going crazy…and Knight, aka Skin, was the root cause of it all. I couldn’t even THINK about reading anything else...so what did I do? I reread 44 Chapters and Skin two more times each. Just to really drive it home and ensure my one way ticket to some serious therapy.

This book is not for the faint of heart. It’s not for the ladies who want sunshine and roses shooting out of…umm….every page. ;-) It’s not for the ladies who want their book boyfriends tall, dark and handsome with a side of beefcake. This is for the ladies who can sympathize with the black sheep, the weirdos and the loners. Ronald McKnight, aka Knight, aka Skin, will get completely under your skin. He’ll piss you off. He’ll steal your heart. He’ll make you want to do dirty, dirty things. You’ll want to scream at BB's adorable little punk ass to, “RUN! RUN FOR YOUR DAMN LIFE!” But by the same token, you’ll also find yourself whispering for her to “Stay. Hold him tight. Make him understand. Make him realize there’s more out there.” I never in a million years thought I’d be able to say one of my top book boyfriends is a Skinhead. But here I am. Screaming it loud and proud. I loved revisiting all of the 90’s music and fashion that’s mentioned in Skin (and 44 Chapters) And going back to when smoking was cool. Haha! BB paints a picture so vivid, I felt like I was living vicariously through her and I loved every second of it.

BB Easton, you emotionally mind fucked me, and I cannot wait for more.

Where One Goes by B.N. Toler

Where One Goes by B.N. Toler
Spoiler Free Review by Krystal
Released March 2015

24323918

"I was never one to believe in spirits—until six years ago,
when a bone-chilling accident changed my life... forever.

My name is Charlotte, but most people call me Char... and I have a special gift.

I talk to the dead.

Make no mistake, I can’t summon them. I’m only able to see and speak to the spirits that linger when they’re unable to crossover. They’re somehow weighted to the world with unfinished affairs. And for the last six years, I've relentlessly used my gift to help their lost souls.

But it’s come at a price. My life is dark. Feeling despondent, I've begun to give up. And in helping the dead, I've realized I haven’t allowed myself to live. With no money, no place to go, and most importantly... no hope, I've decided there is only one option—to end it all.

But fate is a funny thing. One minute, I’m about to leap to my death, and the next, I’m saved by Ike McDermott. The strong, striking soldier stopped me from putting an end to my despair. He’s the kind of man that smiles and brightens an entire room.

Sweet and gentle.
He is my savior.
And he’s dead.

We've made an agreement. He’ll help me find a place to stay and a new job if I’ll help him with his unfinished business so that he may crossover.

Ike’s unfinished matter involves his twin brother, George. George has been falling apart since Ike’s death and Ike has not been able to compel himself to crossover in peace until he knows George will be okay.

When I agreed to help, little did I know that I’d fall in love with the charming folks of Bath County, and... Ike and George McDermott.

Now, as both brothers own equal parts of my heart, I am faced with a cruel and unfair predicament. In saving George, I must let go of Ike.

But how does one let go of half of their heart?"

44 Chapters About 4 Men by BB Easton

44 Chapters About 4 Men

by BB Easton

Original Release: Jan 2016

Review by Rachel

SYNOPSIS

School psychologists aren’t supposed to write books about sex. Doing so would be considered “unethical” and “a fireable offense.” Lucky for you, ethics was never my strong suit.

After spending years trying to spice up my sex life, I gave up and took to my journal. Perhaps my gorgeous, cold, number crunching husband simply wasn’t capable of the kind of passion I’d come to expect. After all, my ex-boyfriends—a skinhead turned US Marine turned motorcycle club outlaw, a baby-faced punk rocker out on parole, and a heavy-metal bass player—were every bit as tattooed and testosterone-fueled as the leading men in my favorite romance novels. If I couldn’t have that kind of passion again in real life, I could at least write about it. Right? Nobody had to know. It would be my little secret.

Well, guess what? My husband read that shit.

And guess what else? He upped his fucking game.

Drunk with power and under the dubious advisement of my best friend and colleague, I began testing the limits—crafting journal entries specifically designed to manipulate Ken’s behavior. For the most part, he responded beautifully…except when he didn’t.

MY THOUGHTS

Good lawd have mercy! WTF did I just read!? Pure, unadulterated hysterical bliss...that's what it was! I. Could. Not. Put. This. Book. Down. I DEVOURED it. How do I even put my thoughts into coherent words? I laughed. I teared up. I had to pick my jaw up off the ground and also take a few cold showers and metaphorical cig breaks. The way it was written, journal style, was PERFECT. It was like sitting down with your best friend and reminiscing about the good old days.

44 chapters wasn't enough. It wasn't nearly enough! I want MORE. Thankfully, BB Easton is giving us more! Each of the 4 men are getting their own book with Knight coming first (as he should) in February 2017.
Her writing is fantastic, quirky, and will keep you entertained until the very last morsel. This book won't be for everyone. It's gritty, dirty, foul mouthed and hardcore in it's own right. For me, it was a boatload of fucked up fun. The men in BB's life will steal your heart. Each and every one of them in their own, flawed, completely fucked up way. I adored BB and Ken's relationship, and what I loved MOST about this book (besides Knight's scary hot bad ass self) was that BB sought to fix her relationship with her husband instead of quitting. Albeit a completely unconventional way, but still, it was an honest and fun look at life and I couldn't have loved it more.
Meme made by Kinky Girls Book Obsessions

I felt like I'd found my best friend, or someone like myself circa 1993-1998. 44 Chapters About 4 Men was entirely different from anything I've ever laid eyes on. BB quickly became an author I'll one click without question. I want to be her bestie, pick her brain, take her advice and talk about Knight until I'm dead and gone. From one 90's bad decision girl to another...I fk'ing loved this novel and I can't say enough about it.
